The topic today is ! SHOULD YOUR THERAPIST BE WEARING GLOVES?
The question WILL spark a debate, but truly do you? expect your therapist to pop gloves on prior to waxing and treatments or not.
Safety regulations do not require us to wear gloves, but i consider that I am a relatively smart individual that has my own and my clients health in mind when waxing, especially intimate areas or underarms,If the pants are off the gloves are on.
I do not feel it is as important when waxing a lip or brow as we generally do not draw blood. Clients are usually well informed if they have had waxing prior and will have been to a salon/studio run by trained by professionals. Profesionals who have trained and up skilled ( we hope ) and are safely performing this service.
Intimate area waxing is an entirely different scenario. The hair is rooted much more deeply, they are coarser, stronger and in a highly sensitive in this well vasculated area. The changes for drawing blood are much much higher, and as i said always put on gloves in an intimate area. Clients seem to be more comfortable with gloves for certain areas although some salons in France do not however wear gloves no not even in the intimate areas.
Myself i think gloves seems more clinical and loses the personal space invasion feeling that can accompany being waxed in an area that few people are ever invited to see, Gloves give us essential barrier personal space that reduces embarrassment for some clients.
All in all, areas of beauty gloves are looked at as protection, but do we question nail therapists when they mop up blood from a nicked cuticle. throwing that one open !!
Dermaplane facials! it is a surgical tool a scalpel with very sharp blade? would you let a surgeon near you with a blade if they were not gowned up ? Apron gloves face mask hair tied back, i see these treatments all over social media where the therapist is in active wear, no gloves mask or even an apron in sight ? maybe you will think again when you go for your treatments .
So over to your thoughts. Has the bed sheet has been re used #shockhorror run. is the waxing area clean, does your therapist look presentable? confident caring most of all knowledgeable, in this opinion i do not think this means a stereotypical beauty tunic, C’mon waxing is heavy hot work your therapist needs to be able to do her stuff. Cleanliness is upmost i will leave this topic here ?? feel free to interact.
